Workshop at Open Day: Analog vs Digital: Recording and Mixing basics
Recording:
Brief explanation of digital and analog signal processing. Guitar recording using analog path (full tube amplifier - mic - preamp) and digital path (Kemper profiler - DAW). Comparative between identical takes.
Mixing:
Follow up of the previous recording.
In the box - Digital mix basics using DAW and plugins exclusively.
Out the box - Analog mix basics using recording console and outboard equipment (DAW as tape machine).
Learning objectives
- The participant will be able to identify pros and cons from both worlds and be informed enough to decide what suits best in each situation.
- The participant will be able to mix basic multitrack recordings.
- The participant will be able to understand the advantages of blending both systems (hybrid mix).
This workshop is part of an Open Day and therefore free of charge. The Open Day starts at 13:00. The workshop itself will start at 15:30. The workshop is approximately 1 hour long.
